Do I need additional protection under office chairs with castors?

Do I need additional protection under office chairs with castors?

Damage caused by the absence of protective mats or similar is not covered by the warranty. Therefore, the use of protective mats or other protective devices for hard plastic or metal rollers is necessary to avoid mechanical damage. However, protective mats are not absolutely necessary if using soft and clean rubber wheels.

Are GRAND SELECTION floors safe for the health of residents?

Are GRAND SELECTION floors safe for the health of residents?

Yes. All floors that leave the factory in Menznau have excellent hygienic properties, so the product can be used in all interior spaces without any problems. The GRAND SELECTION floors were also tested for volatile emissions. Tests in independent laboratories confirm these properties with the best classification A+ for indoor products. Our products are therefore also ideally suited for allergy sufferers.

Do the floor panels emit volatile organic compounds (VOC)?

Do the floor panels emit volatile organic compounds (VOC)?

All organic materials emit VOCs, which is a purely natural phenomenon. GRAND SELECTION floors, however, have very low VOC emissions thanks to the fact that they are made from natural raw materials. The GRAND SELECTION floors thus meet the highest requirements and are FloorScore and GREENGUARD Gold certified.

GRAND SELECTION and underfloor heating?

GRAND SELECTION and underfloor heating?

Yes, definitely. GRAND SELECTION floors are suitable for underfloor heating (H2O). Heating system manufacturers allow floor coverings with a maximum thermal resistance of up to 0.15 (m2*K)/W.

What is the thermal resistance of the floor panels?

What is the thermal resistance of the floor panels?

The thermal resistance (R) of the floor depends on the thickness of the panels and is listed below:

  • 14 mm thick: 0,1 (m2*K)/W
  • 8 mm thick: 0,059 (m2*K)/W

Good to know: All GRAND SELECTION panels are also suitable for rooms with underfloor heating (H2O). Heating system manufacturers allow floor coverings with a maximum thermal resistance of up to 0.15 (m2*K)/W. The rule of thumb: The lower the thermal resistance, the faster the floor heats up. The thicker the panels, the longer the floor maintains temperature.

Does SWISS KRONO send samples of GRAND SELECTION?

Does SWISS KRONO send samples of GRAND SELECTION?

No. Samples must always be ordered via a certified KRONOSWISS specialist partner. They can get you the samples, hand them out straight away or have them delivered to your home. The samples are fragments of the panels, so you can closely examine all the features here, such as colour or surface texture. This makes it easier for you to choose a matching floor, also in terms of its colour coordination with your interior design.

Why is it necessary to acclimatise the floor for 48 hours before installation?

Why is it necessary to acclimatise the floor for 48 hours before installation?

The floor panels are stored in winter in unheated warehouses where the temperature can drop below zero. Before installation, however, panels must reach the temperature of the room where they will be installed. For our GRAND SELECTION floors, we therefore recommend a 48-hour acclimatisation of the originally packed boxes at a minimum temperature of 16 °C and a humidity of 40 to 65 %.

Can damaged panels be replaced?

Can damaged panels be replaced?

Yes. With floating installation, one or more panels can be easily replaced. It is recommended to have this done by a professional floor installer. For full details, see the complete installation instructions.

What is a floating floor?

What is a floating floor?

A floating floor is a floor that is not permanently connected in any way to the floor, walls or other structural elements of the building. The floor panels are only connected to each other and form a uniform surface. Since GRAND SELECTION flooring is made of wood that can naturally expand linearly, the dimensions can change due to temperature differences or changes in humidity in the room. However, this can easily be compensated for with the use of expansion joints.

Is it possible to glue the floor panels to the floor?

Is it possible to glue the floor panels to the floor?

With GRAND SELECTION you can freely choose between a floating installation or gluing. Here you’ll find the tested glue products and the respective manufacturers. Please note the instructions of the glue manufacturer.

What type of underlay must be used under the panels?

What type of underlay must be used under the panels?

First: Please always use an underlay. Our specially developed ProVent impact sound underlay has, for example, a moisture-repellent, insulating, noise-dampening and equalising function. If you do not use a ProVent underlay, you will need a PE film as a moisture barrier – especially when installing floor coverings on new subfloors. This prevents moisture damage in the upper and lower areas of the floor. Simply ask your preferred dealer about suitable materials for this type of floor underlay.

What wastage should be calculated for the required net area?

What wastage should be calculated for the required net area?

The recommended scrap is about 10 %. The allowance depends on the installation method (e.g. random installation), experience and the offset of the individual floor panels (offset by 1/2 or 1/3 of the panel length).

How large is the area over which GRAND SELECTION floors can be installed without threshold gap?

How large is the area over which GRAND SELECTION floors can be installed without threshold gap?

Size depends on the thickness of the panels.

The possible maximum floor area without expansion joints is:

  • for 14 mm thick panels: 14 x 14 m
  • for 8 mm thick panels: 8 x 12 m

Please remember: If larger areas are to be installed, make a threshold gap.

Can GRAND SELECTION floors be installed in rooms that require fire protection approval?

Can GRAND SELECTION floors be installed in rooms that require fire protection approval?

What is the installation procedure for floors with 5G CLIC?

What is the installation procedure for floors with 5G CLIC?

The GRAND SELECTION panels are characterised by easy installation, which you can do yourself. See GRAND SELECTION panels installed correctly in the videos here.

Can GRAND SELECTION floors be installed in bathrooms and kitchens?

Can GRAND SELECTION floors be installed in bathrooms and kitchens?

Yes. GRAND SELECTION floors can also be installed in bathrooms and kitchens of flats with normal use without any problems. However, the floor is not suitable for complete wet rooms such as saunas, steam baths, showers or swimming pools. Also, based on our experience with floor panels, we do not recommend installing them under kitchen units as the load is too high and the function of the floating floor would be affected. Remember: Flexible silicone edges should be used to finish the edge or transition areas (according to DIN 18534-1) in the bathroom. Regular checks should also be carried out to ensure that the seals are intact and that the underfloor is not exposed. Please read your installation instructions carefully.
